The measured results

Every number below is read straight from the test. Scroll sideways to see all measurements. Products are listed in the order they finished.

ProductAdhesion Stick Test
1Gorillaheld over 5 lb of water weight (applied via a funnel-fed container) before starting to slide off the laminate test surface
2T-Rexheld over 10 lb combined weight before giving way: the water container alone maxed out the 5 lb scale (triggering an error), so extra weight was added and weighed separately (about 4 lb 15.6 oz plus another 3.2 oz of clamps), plus a water container at right around 5 lb; strongest adhesion result of the two brands with any data

How it was tested

  • adhesion/stick test (25 lb of rolled-on downward force, then a water-filled container gradually loaded until the tape lets go, weighed)
  • tensile strength lengthwise (tape wrapped around two hinged pipes, weight added 6in from the pivot until the tape breaks) - test is set up on camera but no results are narrated for any brand
  • strength widthwise (tape applied over a gap, downward force applied until it rips) - test is set up on camera but no results are narrated for any brand
Data notes and caveats

Transcript is clearly incomplete relative to a 710 second (about 11.8 minute) video: only 151 lines exist, none of the 6 described brands (3M, Duck, Fasten, Gorilla, Scotch, T-rex) gets a price introduction anywhere (a near-universal feature of this channel's other videos), and 4 of the 6 brands (3M, Duck, Fasten, Scotch) are never named at all in the narrated portion, so they have zero test data and are omitted from products[] entirely rather than included with empty fields. Even for the two brands with any data (Gorilla, T-Rex), only the adhesion/stick test has narrated figures; the tensile-strength (lengthwise) and width-strength (rip) tests are both set up and described on camera but no per-brand results are ever spoken. One adhesion-test fragment ('I added a total of 4.7 oz. As you can see, that's when it started to give') appears immediately before the Gorilla result but names no brand, so it could not be confidently attributed to any of the 4 untested brands and was left out rather than guessed. The narrator explicitly declines to give a personal opinion or pick a winner at the end of the video ('I really don't want to do that, I really want you guys to decide for yourself'), so winner/runnerUp/budgetPick/verdictQuote are all null independent of the missing-data issue. Logged to data/re-pull.txt for caption re-pull; confidence set to low per the incomplete-transcript rule.
