| Product | Pipe cutting test (3/16 by roughly 2.5 inch pipe, harder than mild steel, with weight applied) | Angle iron test (1.5 inch, 1/8 inch thick hard bed frame steel) | Angle iron test |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1Diablo bi-metal, 14/18 TPI | cut through in 1 minute 1 second, the fastest time and least amount of damage or paint loss of any blade tested | cut about three times as deep as the Lenox blade, won this test as well | not tested |
| 2Lenox Gold, 14 TPI curved, tin coated | cut through in 1 minute 23 seconds, second place, quite a bit of paint damage and some tooth damage but described as a very respectable finish | was not up to the task on this very hard steel, finished third of the three blades that were tested on it | not tested |
| 3Milwaukee bi-metal, 18 TPI | cut through in 1 minute 38 seconds, third place, quite a bit of tooth damage and paint loss but described as a very respectable performance | second place, a fairly respectable job | not tested |
| 4Warrior bi-metal, 14 TPI, alloy steel body with M2 high-speed steel cutting edge | was not able to cut through the steel at all, the test was stopped early | not tested | not tested, having already failed the pipe cutting test |
How it was tested
- cutting through 3/16 inch by roughly 2.5 inch steel pipe (harder than mild steel) with a fixed test jig and applied weight, timed
- cutting through 1.5 inch, 1/8 inch thick angle iron (hard bed frame material)
- visual inspection of paint loss and tooth damage after the pipe cutting test
“diablo coming out on top and then of course lenox or milwaukee coming in a close second depending on how you want to interpret the results”
